Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQ-i 2.0®) [EN]
Popularised in the 1990s by the works of Daniel Goleman, emotional intelligence is today one of the key transversal skills of the 21st century. Dr. Reuven Bar-On, the creator of the EQi (Emotional Quotient Inventory), defines it as a set of interdependent emotional and social competencies, which influence the way we perceive ourselves and use emotional information effectively. For Bar-On, "Emotional intelligence and cognitive intelligence both contribute to a person's overall intelligence, which is therefore an indication of his or her potential for success in life". (2002). Unlike IQ, however, EQ can be considerably strengthened and developed.
EQ-i is an internationally recognised psychometric instrument because it is extremely reliable (0.97 in 2000, in North America). It is based on several decades of research and development. It is a good predictor of performance and is central to the assessment of potential.
Published in 1997, EQi is today the world's best-selling psychometric instrument for assessing emotional intelligence.
